SharePuzz Help

Welcome to SharePuzz, the app that turns your own photos into jigsaw puzzles you can solve alone or with a friend. This guide walks you through the game modes, how to play together online, and answers to common questions.

Contents

1. What is SharePuzz?

SharePuzz takes a photo from your phone, slices it into pieces, and turns it into a jigsaw puzzle. Play on your own, or connect with a friend and solve a puzzle together in real time. There is no account to create and nothing to sign up for.

2. Game modes

Creating any online room (Co-op, Versus, or tic-tac-toe) requires a subscription (monthly or yearly, through the App Store or Google Play). The person who is invited can join for free from the home screen — so as long as one of the two players has a subscription, both can play. Single mode is always free. Current price, any free trial, and billing details are shown in the App and on the store listing; those displays prevail.

3. Playing the puzzle

When you start a puzzle, pick a grid size anywhere from 5×5 up to 10×10 — the higher the number, the more pieces and the greater the challenge.

To rearrange pieces, drag one tile on top of another to swap their positions. Keep swapping until the picture is complete.

To join a friend's online room instead of creating one, use Join (D) on the home screen — see section 5.

4. Starting an online game

Here is the flow for Co-op. Versus works the same way — just pick the Versus card instead. For tic-tac-toe, start from the minigame option after you open an online mode (no photo upload).

1. On the home screen, tap Co-op (B) (or Versus (C)) to create a room, then choose your grid size (5 to 10). Creating a room requires a subscription.
2. A room code appears at the top of the screen. Copy it to send to your friend, or show them the QR code.
3. Your friend taps Join (D) on their home screen and enters the code (or scans the QR). Once they join, the game begins.

The person you invite can join for free — they do not need a subscription of their own. A room holds only two people.

5. Sharing a room (code & QR)

Every online room has a short room code — 8 characters, shown in a friendly form like ABCD-WXYZ. You can share a room in three ways: send the code, copy the code, or show a QR code for the other person to scan.

Send or copy the code

From the room screen you can send the code straight to a friend through your messaging app of choice, or copy it to the clipboard and paste it wherever you like.

Show a QR code

The person who created the room can display a QR code on their screen. The other player then scans it to join. Use the scanner inside SharePuzz (on the Join screen), not your phone's built-in camera app.

How to join

Joining is free and works even without a subscription of your own, as long as the host has one.

1. On your home screen, tap Join (D). The "Join with invite code" screen opens.
2. Type in the room code the host gave you, or tap the QR scan icon next to the input field to open the camera and scan the host's QR code.
3. Tap Join (scanning a QR joins automatically) and you'll enter the room.

You don't need to pick a mode when joining. The app reads the code and automatically takes you to the right game — Co-op, Versus, or the tic-tac-toe minigame.

6. Frequently asked questions

Please take a quick look here before contacting us — most questions are answered below.

Purchases & subscriptions

Q1. I subscribed, but the app still shows me as not subscribed and won't let me start Co-op / Versus.

Most of the time, Restore Purchases fixes this. Try the steps for your phone below.

iPhone (App Store):

1. On the home screen, tap the Co-op (B) or Versus (C) card. If you're not subscribed, the purchase screen opens.
2. Tap Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed in with the same Apple ID you bought with, it should activate here.
3. If nothing changes, tap Manage / cancel subscription on the same screen to open the App Store, and check that your SharePuzz subscription shows as active.

A purchase won't restore if you're signed in with a different Apple ID than the one you bought with. You can check your current Apple ID and subscriptions in the Settings app → your name at the top → Subscriptions.

Android (Google Play):

1. On the home screen, tap the Co-op (B) or Versus (C) card. If you're not subscribed, the purchase screen opens.
2. Tap Restore Purchases. As long as you're signed in with the same Google account you bought with, it should activate here.
3. If nothing changes, tap Manage / cancel subscription on the same screen to open Google Play, and check that your SharePuzz subscription is active.

A purchase won't restore if you're signed in with a different Google account than the one you bought with. You can check in the Play Store → your profile icon → Payments & subscriptions → Subscriptions.

Q2. I changed phones (or reinstalled) and lost my subscription.

Local app data resets when you reinstall, but your subscription itself is still held by your Apple ID / Google account. Use Restore Purchases (see Q1) to bring it back.

This only works within the same platform. If you switched between iPhone and Android, see Q3.

Q3. I switched from iPhone to Android (or the other way). Can I carry my subscription over?

No. The Apple App Store and Google Play are completely separate billing systems, so subscriptions cannot transfer between them. This isn't specific to SharePuzz — it's normal for any app that doesn't have its own login system.

Please check before you buy. If you move between iPhone and Android, an existing subscription (monthly or yearly) will not carry over to the new platform, and you'll need to purchase again on the new device. In particular, with a yearly plan, any remaining time after you cancel cannot be used on the other platform. If you're planning to switch, please keep this in mind before subscribing. Price and any free-trial offer follow the store listing for the platform you buy on.

If you do switch platforms, please:

1. Cancel the subscription on your old device. If you don't, the old store will keep charging you even after you re-subscribe on the new one (see Q4 for how to cancel).
2. Subscribe again on the new device.

Switching within the same platform (iPhone to iPhone, or Android to Android) is fine — just use Restore Purchases (Q1).

Q4. How do I cancel?

Tap the info icon (ⓘ) at the top right of the home screen, open About SharePuzz, and tap Manage / cancel subscription to open your store's management screen. (You can also reach it from the purchase screen.) Note that uninstalling the app does not cancel your subscription.

Rooms & connection

Q5. It says "Can't connect to the server."

When you tap the Co-op (B) or Versus (C) card, the app checks that it can reach the server before moving on. If that check fails, you'll see this message right away (by design — so you don't get stuck later, after choosing a photo). Common causes:

If it keeps failing, please contact us. Single (A) mode works offline, so you can always play it regardless of your connection.

Q6. My friend says they can't join my room.

Please check the following:

In most cases, simply creating a fresh room solves it.

Q7. My connection dropped mid-game and I can't get back in.

The app automatically tries to reconnect once your connection returns. However, a room with no one connected for more than 24 hours is automatically discarded — in that case, please create a new room.

Q8. The app looks frozen during play.

Try closing the app and reopening it. If the connection dropped briefly, you'll see a message on screen indicating it is reconnecting.

Q9. I get refused when I try to create a room.

Creating many rooms in a short time temporarily limits new rooms. Please wait a little and try again.

Gameplay

Q10. A piece I moved doesn't seem to show up on my friend's screen.

Close the app and rejoin with the same room code — you can pick up where you left off. If it still happens, please contact us and include the time it occurred and the room code.

Q11. In Versus mode, the winner seems wrong.

We're sorry about that. Please contact us with the time it occurred and the room code, and we'll check our server logs.

Other

Q12. The back gesture closes the app when I didn't mean to.

To prevent accidental exits during play, there's a two-step confirmation. If the app still closes on you unexpectedly, that may be a bug — please let us know.

Q13. Images look blurry or distorted.

Display quality can vary with your device and the original photo. Try a different image; if it still looks wrong, please contact us.

Still stuck? Before you contact us

So we can look into your issue, please include as much of the following as you can:

For older events, we may not be able to investigate if they fall outside our server log retention period, so please get in touch as soon as you can. If it looks like a temporary connection glitch, try once more first, and let us know if it happens again.
