SharePuzz Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-09-26
This Privacy Policy explains how SharePuzz (the "App") handles information about you. SharePuzz is a photo jigsaw game you can play by yourself or together with one other person. We designed it to collect as little personal information as possible.
Who we are
The short version
- No account, and no sign-up. We do not ask for your name, email, or phone number.
- We do not show ads and do not use advertising identifiers (IDFA / Android Advertising ID).
- Photos and game data used in online play are relayed through our server only in memory and are automatically discarded; they are never saved to permanent storage.
- Payments are handled entirely by Apple or Google. We never see or store your card or bank details.
- Uninstalling the App removes the local data on your device and is effectively the same as deleting your account.
Information we collect
- A random device identifier. The first time you open the App, it generates a random identifier (a UUID) that is stored on your device. It is used only to tell players apart during online play. It is not linked to your name or any other identifying information, and it is erased when you clear the App's data or uninstall the App.
- Data handled temporarily by our server during online play. When you host or join an online room (Co-op, Versus, or tic-tac-toe), our server temporarily processes the room code, grid size (for puzzle modes), initial layout and move history, any image bytes and their SHA-256 hash that the host uploads, the device identifier above, and connection information such as IP address, timestamps, connection status and error/technical logs. Images, move history and room data are held in the server's memory only. They are automatically discarded once everyone has left the room for a set time (24 hours by default), or once a set time has passed since the room was created (48 hours by default). None of this is written to permanent storage, and it is all lost if the server restarts.
- Subscription status. To unlock creating Co-op, Versus, and tic-tac-toe rooms, we check your subscription status (whether you are subscribed, on which platform, and its expiry) based on the receipt provided by the Apple App Store or Google Play. We do not collect or hold your payment details (card number, bank account, etc.); those are handled directly by Apple or Google.
- Technical logs. Our server keeps structured logs of events such as room creation, joining, moves, completion and disconnections, along with a partial IP address and the first few characters of the device identifier, plus the OS type/version and App version. We use these to diagnose problems, keep the service running well, detect abuse, maintain security, and investigate violations of our Terms. We truncate the device identifier and mask part of the IP address so that logs alone do not readily identify an individual.
The App does not provide login via Apple ID, Google account, social media or any other external identity, so no information tied to such accounts is collected.
How we use information
- To provide the App's features (single-player puzzles, Co-op, Versus, and the tic-tac-toe minigame).
- To create and join rooms, deliver images, sync moves in real time, and determine results.
- To manage free and paid plans and subscription status.
- To investigate problems and outages and to maintain and improve service quality.
- To detect, prevent and investigate abuse, violations of our Terms, and unauthorized access.
- To respond to your inquiries and to notify you of important changes.
- To comply with applicable laws and store policies.
Information shared with the other player
- When another person joins your online room, the game data needed for play is sent to that person through our server โ for puzzle modes, the image and initial layout uploaded by the host and both players' piece swaps; for tic-tac-toe, both players' marks.
- Because we do not collect display names, profile pictures or similar identifiers, none of that is shown to the other player.
- You are responsible for choosing who you share a room code with. Anyone who learns a shared room code may be able to join that room.
Third parties and international handling
We do not sell your information or share it with third parties except (a) with your consent, (b) where required by law, (c) where necessary to protect someone's life, safety or property, (d) where especially necessary to improve public health or promote the sound growth of children, or (e) where necessary to cooperate with a public authority carrying out its duties under the law.
We rely on Apple Inc. (App Store) and Google LLC (Google Play) to process in-app purchases and issue receipts. Your payment details are collected directly by them and are not shared with us. Because these providers operate internationally, subscription-related information may be stored or processed outside your country (including in the United States). Our own server features run on infrastructure we operate ourselves; we do not store or transfer your data to third-party cloud services such as Firebase, and we do not use any advertising networks.
How long we keep information
- Device identifier: stored only on your device; removed when you clear the App's data or uninstall.
- Room data and images: held in server memory only, never persisted; discarded automatically (24 hours after everyone leaves, or 48 hours after the room is created) and lost on server restart.
- Logs and diagnostics: kept only as long as needed for troubleshooting, abuse detection, quality and security โ generally on the order of a few months up to about a year โ then deleted or de-identified.
- Subscription information: retained and referenced according to Apple's and Google's rules; we do not keep it permanently ourselves.
- Information we are legally required to keep is retained for the period required by law.
Your choices
- The App has no account system, and our server does not hold personal information that continuously identifies you. You can reset the on-device identifier by clearing the App's data or uninstalling.
- Uninstalling the App is equivalent to deleting your account. It erases the device identifier and other local data, leaving us no way to identify that device. A fresh identifier is issued if you reinstall.
- Room data, images and move history are discarded automatically after you leave (see retention above). If you would like immediate deletion, contact us at the address below.
- Uninstalling does not automatically cancel an active subscription on the App Store or Google Play. Please cancel it yourself from the store (you can open the store's management screen from "Manage / cancel subscription" on the App's About screen).
- You may ask us about the technical logs we hold and request notice of the purposes of use, access (disclosure), correction, deletion, suspension of use, or cessation of third-party provision, to the extent applicable. Contact us at the address below; we will verify your request and respond within a reasonable time in accordance with applicable law. We may decline all or part of a request where we are not legally required to comply, where we cannot verify your identity, or where doing so would seriously impair the operation of the service.
Security
We take reasonable measures to protect information against loss, misuse and unauthorized access, including encrypting communication between the App and our server (HTTPS / WSS / TLS), server-side access control (session tokens and rate limiting), and truncating device identifiers and masking IP addresses in operational logs. However, no method of transmission over the internet is completely secure, and we cannot guarantee absolute security.
Children
The App is intended for a general audience and is not directed at children under 13. If a child under 13 uses the App, they should do so with the consent and supervision of a parent or legal guardian. Where we reasonably determine that such consent is absent, we may restrict or suspend use.
Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Except where the law or this policy provides otherwise, changes take effect when we post the updated policy in the App or on our website.
